Description: The prospects for China's health insurance has increased significantly in 2018, incentivized by a series of favorable government policies to support the development of commercial health insurance. However, the market still lacks relatively mature products and services. Description: Life Insurers today are collecting huge volumes of text data though heterogeneous sources which if harnessed in a streamlined process can lead to enhanced decision making for pricing, product development, experience studies etc. This session would introduce the technical framework which can be used to derive insights from unstructured data like raw text.

These include: • Clustering • Use of unique--and potentially a different number of--scenarios for each policy • Semi Monte Carlo (SMC) – this is a proprietary technique that is similar to a combination of Monte Carlo and numeric integration • Using a neural network approach to optimize some of the more complex and manual aspects of clustering and improve the fit of the clustered model • Combining SMC with the use of unique scenarios per policy
